Todays Lesson and Standards

ELAGSE4RL2: Determine a theme of a story, drama, or poem from details in the

text; summarize the text.

ELAGSE4RI2: Determine the main idea of a text and explain how it is supported

by key details; summarize the text.

Today as a class we will determine the theme of the story The Tortoise and the Hare. We will complete this task by annotating as we read and occasionally pausing to gauge understanding. 

After we complete the reading and answer the questions, as a class we will watch the animated version of the story. 

As your exit ticket, you will summarize the story and how the overall theme relates to you. This will be done on notebook paper and handed in (no more than 2 paragraphs).
